Vandaag hebben we in het Reestdal gelopen. Een stukje Overijssel waar ik wel eens doorheen rijd, maar eigenlijk nog nooit gelopen heb. Vandaag dus de primeur, en ik kan het iedereen aanraden!
De auto kun je parkeren op de parkeerplaats bij het bezoekerscentrum De Wheem van Landschap Overijssel in Oud Avereest. De oude boerderij is prachtig verbouwd tot educatiecentrum waar je ook prima terecht kunt voor een kop koffie of thee. Vanaf deze locatie start de 13 km lange Trage tocht langs korenvelden, heide, meertjes en de Reest. Deze veenbeek slingert hier door een eeuwenoud cultuurlandschap en je kruist hem geregeld op de route.
De route is heel afwisselend: door open weiland en door bossen. Na een paar honderd meter zaten we tussen de korenvelden waar de korenbloemen de velden van kleur voorzagen. Kort daarna zagen we een ooievaar met haar jong op het nest zitten. En terwijl ik foto’s maakte volgde ze me geheel en hield me nauw in de gaten. Wel gaaf om dit van zo dichtbij te kunnen zien.
In het gebied lopen Schotse Highlanders en op de vennen zie je allerlei watervogels. De route gaat soms door licht heuvelachtig gebied en hierdoor heb je geregeld mooie vergezichten. Op de hele wandeling zijn we drie keer andere wandelaars tegengekomen. Een prima route dus om in alle rust van de natuur te genieten!
