Dwarsgracht is een schattig plaatsje, drie kilometer van Giethoorn af. De naam is ontleend aan het feit dat de gracht, waaraan het plaatsje zijn naam dankt, dwars op een aantal grachten lag. Net als in Giethoorn is er sprake van lintbebouwing langs een kanaal, in dit geval de Dwarsgracht. De plaats is voor 1800 gesticht ten tijde van de turfwinning in het gebied vanuit de plaats Giethoorn.
Vanaf De Otterskooi vertrekt een mooie wandeling die erg geschikt is om in 2,5 uur te lopen. Onderweg kom je langs een vogelspotplek, een haventje en kun je genieten van de mooie Beulakerwijde.
